At the moment, I only do housecall lessons.

I have been teaching piano for nearly 15 years now, and have experience preparing students for exams such as the ABRSM exam. I have worked with students of all ages, from the very young, all the way up to adult beginners, though I have in recent years preferred to work with beginners around the age of 6/7. I am also an active member of the Music Teachers Association of California, operating from the San Mateo Branch.

I primarily serve the upper peninsula, from Millbrae up to, but not including San Francisco, but can also teach in the Belmont and San Mateo areas under special circumstances (please indicate this in your inquiry email if you want to schedule lessons.)

Before proceeding with lessons on a regular basis, I will first hold a paid, non-commitment trial lesson, the purpose of which is to establish rapport with the student and family, get to know the student briefly, and essentially gauge the teacher-student fit, and if continuing on with lessons is feasible or not. The trial lesson will be 45 minutes so that we can get through the musical material as well as have the opportunity to discuss goals, answer questions etc. After the trial lesson, the family can discuss whether or not they would like to continue on with lessons.

Lessons will generally start off at 30 minutes, and increase to 50 minute lessons once they are able to apprehend more difficult material and/or possess the focus/stamina for longer lessons.

Generally speaking, the time that you book for a trial lesson will be the time regular lessons will be scheduled at if you choose to continue with lessons, though, accounting for availability, taking a different time slot is also possible [starting on the half hours will also be possible.]
