At Aurelianus Varro University, master's study is designed for musicians who wish to deepen both their performance and scholarly expertise. Programs combine rigorous academic work with extensive performance practice. Master of Arts in Music

The MA focuses on academic and analytical study of music. Students explore musicology, theory, and research-based projects. Completion typically takes two years of full-time study. Graduates are prepared for careers in academia, arts administration, music research, and further doctoral study.

To earn an MA in Music, students must complete all coursework with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and submit an original research or analytical thesis.

Master of Music

The MM is a professional performance-focused degree emphasizing applied music, ensemble participation, and solo performance. Completion typically takes two years of full-time study. Graduates are prepared for professional performance careers, advanced doctoral study, teaching, and music industry roles. Time-intensive practice, rehearsals, and performance schedules should be carefully considered.

To earn an MM, students must complete all coursework with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5, submit an original thesis, pass an exit exam defending the thesis, perform one solo recital, one chamber recital, and one concerto recital.

Masters of Music applicants will have the opportunity each academic year to apply for an assistantship: if accepted, tuition is waived, and you will assist a tenured faculty member each semester with grading and/or teaching responsibilities.
